I’m delighted to announce that through our Memorial Christmas Tree and Charity Christmas Theme campaign, GoneTooSoon raised an amazing £5895 for Make-A-Wish.

Some of the money raised by GoneTooSoon was used to pay for Emily's wish below, with the rest will be used towards granting the wishes of other children fighting life-threatening illnesses.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Terry George.

Emily, aged six, from Middlesbrough, enjoyed a magical day when she had her very special wish granted to become a princess.

Emily, who is living with Lymphoblastic Lymphoma (a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma), was collected from her home in a pink limousine, along with her mother, Sharon; father, Paul and sister Rosie. The family was driven in style to Walworth Castle to start Emily’s enchanting wish.

Inside the castle Emily was shown to a wonderful room where she found a beautiful dress and all the accessories to help complete her magical transformation into a princess. Emily even had her very own lady-in-waiting to arrange her tiara.
Once she was transformed into a princess, Emily could not believe her eyes when she looked outside the window to see a very special carriage and horses waiting to take her on a tour around the castle.

After the tour Emily was treated to a party banquet with a chocolate fountain in the dining hall. The lunch was made all the more special as she was greeted by some special guests where school friends who had come to join her. Emily enjoyed a meal fit for a princess.

Emily's mother, Sharon says: "It has truly been a day where Emily can forget everything and just have fun. She has had such a magical day and will always remember it."

Make-A-Wish was only able to grant this wish thanks to the generous support of GoneTooSoon and its members. Make-A-Wish Foundation UK was established in the UK in 1986 and since then they have granted over 5,300 wishes. The aim of the charity is to grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. Their aim in 2009 is to grant and fund around 860 wishes which will be up from 680 in 2008. The long term aim is to be granting 1,000 wishes a year by 2010 which will ensure that every child living in the UK with a life-threatening illness is able to experience the magic of a Make-A-Wish wish.
