THE funeral of a schoolgirl who was killed in a tragic road accident just yards from her home is to take place next week.
Danielle Beaver (14) died after being hit by a car as she crossed the B1514 Lincoln Road, in Deeping Gate, in the early evening on December 18.
It is understood, the youngster, who was a pupil at Deepings School, had returned from a Christmas shopping trip in Peterborough and had just stepped off a bus.
Her family have said her funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 6, at the Priory Church in Deeping St James, from 1pm.
Her death has sparked an outpouring of grief with numerous friends and well wishers laying flowers at the scene of the accident and many with poignant tributes attached.
Two memorial pages have been set up on the internet where a raft of people are continuing to pay tribute to the popular schoolgirl.
One, on memorial website www.gonetoosoon.org, has seen more than 1,500 visitors since the day after Danielle’s tragic death and more than 50 “virtual” candles lit in her name.
The page was set up by Kim Farley, who describes herself as Danielle’s best friend and said: “Danielle (Danni) was such a great friend to all of the pupils at Deeping School, she always had a smile on her face, and knew how to cheer everyone up.”
Ten more messages have also been added to the site including one from friend, Sophie Brooke, who says Danielle is “the most beautiful angel in heaven”.
“Words cannot describe how everyone is feeling currently. Just being with you a few hours before it happened, it reduces me to tears. You will be truly missed,” she added.
Members of popular social networking site Facebook have also been paying their respects to the schoolgirl, with 513 members joining the group “Rest in peace Danielle Beaver – always in our hearts”.
Of the 72 messages left on the page, group creator Abi Thorpe simply wrote “I miss you”, while others sent condolences to Danielle’s family.
