A BATLEY family has paid tribute to their brave son who died last week after battling cystic fibrosis throughout his 15 years. Thomas Grimshaw was diagnosed with CF when he was eight weeks old and spent his life in and out of hospital. CF is a genetic disorder which affects the lungs and digestive system and stops them working properly. It affects more than 6,000 children in the UK, and 1 in 20 people carry the CF gene. But Thomas was such a humorous and fun-loving character that many who met him never knew he was ill at all. Family and friends have been left devastated by their loss. Tribute was paid to Thomas at his school, St John Fisher Catholic High School in Dewsbury, and more than 200 cards of condolence have been sent to Thomas’s home, on Holyoake Avenue, Healey. Many people have left tributes on Thomas’s page on the Gone Too Soon website.
