Hundreds of mourners have gathered for the funeral of a family of six killed in a horror crash on the M6 motorway in Cheshire. As they were being laid to rest, the Portuguese lorry driver accused of causing their deaths appeared in court. David Statham, 38, and his 33-year-old wife Michelle and their three sons and daughter died when their car burst into flames after it was sandwiched between two lorries.

TRIBUTES have continued to pour in to a former Essex schoolgirl who was murdered in New Zealand. The body of 15-year-old Liberty Rose Templeman, who used to live in Brightlingsea, was found in a stream in a remote part of the North Island on Sunday. The aspiring young actress had emigrated with her family in 2005. A murder hunt is now under way as New Zealand police try to trace her killer. The news has shocked her friends and associates in the Essex town who have paid moving tributes to her. Sheila Wyatt, the chairman of the Brightlingsea Pantomime Group, said she recalled Liberty - also known as Libby - as a bright and confident girl who had the potential for a successful stage career. Mrs Wyatt recalled the 2004 production which featured Liberty, who had kept up her passion for performing after moving to New Zealand.

Head bowed and handcuffed, this is the Portuguese driver accused of killing a family of six when his lorry ploughed into the back of their car. Chef David Statham, 38, his wife Michelle, 33, and children Reece, 13, Jay, nine, Mason, 20 months, and ten-week-old Ellouise died when their people carrier was smashed between two trucks and burst into flames. The family were trapped inside and burnt to death before emergency services could reach the scene of the crash on the M6 near Sandbach in Cheshire. Yesterday, Paulo Jorge Nogueira de Silva, 46, was charged with six counts of causing death by dangerous driving. De Silva, of Totana, in the Murcia region of Spain, appeared before magistrates in Crewe where he was remanded in custody. Mr Statham, a chef at a private school, and his family were returning to their home in Llandudno, North Wales, on Monday night when the crash happened.

Professional footballers and a television actress are among the friends paying tribute today to murdered teenage model Amy Leigh Barnes in two memorial pages on the social networking site Facebook. By midday more than 900 people had joined a Facebook group set up in memory of the 19-year-old, including former Hollyoaks actress Hannah Tointon whose brief tribute reads: “R.I.P. x”. Footballers also left comments on the page, titled "a beautiful girl...with her whole life ahead of her!! RIP amyleigh my angel". Oldham Athletic player Paul Black wrote “r.i.p. x”, while West Bromwich Albion striker Ishmael Miller posted the message: “R.I.P. Amy Leigh”. A further 650 had joined a second page called "..RIP Amy You Will Never Be Forgotten Babe..xXx"

A GIFTED teacher found dead days after being accused of misusing a computer at school killed himself, an inquest heard. Michael Hall, was found in his home the same week he was suspended from High Tunstall College of Science, in Hartlepool, in January. He was discovered with his wrists slashed in the bathroom at his house in Beatrice House, Royal Court, on the outskirts of Sunderland. Mr Hall was one of two teachers suspended from the school for alleged computer misuse.

Tributes have been paid to a ‘fun-loving’ schoolboy who died suddenly after falling ill from a cold virus. Paul Lockwood, who would have been celebrating his 16th birthday today, died after battling against a virus that attacked his heart. His family are now struggling to come to terms with his death, and have placed a tribute to the teenager on the Gone Too Soon website in his honour.

Leeds teen killed himself after break-up By Vicki Robinson A LEEDS teenager killed himself after his girlfriend walked out on him, an inquest heard. Guy Wilson was found hanged from his own shoelaces just days after Gemma Davison moved out of their flat. The hearing was told the 17-year-old would-be soldier had texted her threatening to kill himself two days before his body was found on July 18.

Following an investigation by Cleveland Police, a spokesman said there was a likelihood that no charges would have been brought against him. No charges were brought against the other teacher.

Anthony Morley, 36, killed Damian Oldfield and then carved a piece of flesh off his thigh and seasoned it with chopped herbs before frying it in olive oil, cutting it into sections and chewing a piece. The first Mr Gay UK, Morley had invited homosexual Mr Oldfield for dinner after flirting with him through text messages. The pair ended up in bed together watching a DVD of Brokeback Mountain before hours later Morley walked into a takeaway wearing only a bloodstained dressing gown and flipflops, saying he had killed someone. His victim was discovered in the bedroom at Morley's home in Bexley Place, Harehills, Leeds. His throat had been cut and he died from multiple stab wounds. In addition to the piece of flesh missing from his thigh, another area of skin was found near the body which had been cut from his chest and replaced with a Lloyds Bank card.
