A 21-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a popular father-of-one at a birthday party. Shawn Callum, 26, from Paddington, was gunned down outside Stonebridge Primary School on Shakespeare Avenue, Stonebridge, in the early hours of February 8.

POLICE today continued to appeal for witnesses as an outpouring of grief followed the death of a 15-year-old in Sunderland. Police yesterday named the youngster as Kane Scales, aged 15, from Roker. The Monkwearmouth School pupil was hit by a Vauxhall Passat next to The Grange pub, in Newcastle Road, on Thursday evening. Kane suffered serious injuries and was treated in the intensive care unit of Sunderland Royal Hospital, but died on Friday.

Peterborough Telegrpah THE funeral of a schoolgirl who was killed in a tragic road accident just yards from her home is to take place next week. Danielle Beaver (14) died after being hit by a car as she crossed the B1514 Lincoln Road, in Deeping Gate, in the early evening on December 18.
