Who am I? That's a question that every parent, sibling, and grandparent of child loss asks a million times over. When a child dies, we change. Not only does our perspective on life change, but we actually change in physical appearance (some age quickly, others gain weight rapidly or lose a great deal of weight). There are fewer smiles and outbursts our laughter. We tend to have a more serious outlook on life. Some become almost homebound -- afraid to go out. Many begin drinking excessive alcohol. One day we stand back and look at ourselves and wonder who we have become. When a person experiences the heartbreak of child loss, a lot of changes take place and we'll never be the same person again, BUT we can become a more understanding person of the true meaning of life. Heaven becomes more real to us and we cling ever so tightly to the hope of reuniting with our child again!
