About me
I am mummy to Mollie. My beautiful baby girl who had Spinal Muscular Trophy type 1 and grew her angel wings aged just 12 months old.
Mollie’s Tribute - read by mummy at Mollie's funeral
Mollie Carmel was born in Adelaide Australia on the 9th October 2007. She was a daddy’s girl straight away as he cuddled her for hours with the biggest smile on his face. Such a beautiful baby and so very content. Mollie learned to smile very early on and never stopped. Even travelling thousands of miles on a plane she received attention from strangers who were mesmerised by her smile. Mollie loved meeting her family and friends and particularly enjoyed it when people joined in with the songs………… windy pops, booby land, going in the car, okey cokey, jogging jogging, bless you cutie sneezer, any poops/no poops and more recently - yes my name is iggle piggle. Talking of Iggle Piggle - you have started a craze and we know grownups getting home from work and watching In The Night Garden.
Mollie was known by many different names … big la la, stinky, beautiful, termite, kitten, naughty toad, diddle dumpling, cutie pie, little flower, mollie moos, sunshine magoo, poppet, little girl, iddy giddy, mollie mooguls, princess, gorgeous, cheeky and clever girl. And wow she was very clever and bright and loved the attention she received from everyone. She loved singing with her nan over the phone, playing skippy with grampy, pulling ga-ga’s nose, being coy with uncle brian, boxing with uncle steven, falling asleep on uncle paul’s belly and being up up up with auntie allycat. She loved playing peekaboo games particularly the one where her daddy helped her peep into the room to surprise people and she squealled with delight when mummy then chased her and daddy around. Mollie was a definite fan of rock music and loved being picked up and doing dancing especially head banging with daddy. Mollie loved to be outside too and enjoyed going to feed the ducks but she insisted on being in someones arms so that she could get a good nosie around. (not from my side of the family)
Mollie literally grasped life with both hands and only wanted to be surrounded by happy smiley faces. The sillier the better. Thank goodness she was born into a family of nutters - (this is both sides of the family) She was determined to enjoy herself and she made lots of friends at the swimming pool where she went regularly to wow onlookers. We’ll always remember the day she received her duckling award - she was so proud of it and her face was beaming. Talking of friends - Mollie had lots of boyfriends but her very best friend is Kelan and her face would light up when he came to visit.
She loved to learn new things. She learned how to blow kisses and raspberries, to wave, play the drums and piano and enjoyed playing the drop and pick up game. From an early age she loved watching the darts and learned how to throw objects like she was throwing a dart. She was very cheeky when she found her voice with her first words being da-da but most repeated word being gone gone gone gone.
Mollie was so incredibly brave and was amazingly strong beating all the odds and reaching her first birthday and what a beautiful time we all had with her at all of her parties. Memories that will last forever.
We was and still are incredibly proud of you Mollie and feel very honoured by the fact that you chose us to be your mummy and daddy. You have taught us how to be strong and brave and how to smile and laugh even during difficult times and we hope you are as proud of us as we are of you. You may be gone gone gone from our sight but you are and always will be in our thoughts, hearts, dreams and prayers and we mm mmm mmmmmmm - we love you.
RIP our beautiful beautiful little baby girl…. Until we meet again.
