An Exclusive Club
I find myself the parent of
A child, I sadly had to lose.
I find myself a member of
A club no one would ever choose.
I never thought that I would join
This very exclusive club.
Of pain and grief and sorrow
From life and loss and love.
But I was forced to join this club,
And the dues were extremely high.
I became a lifelong member
The day my sweet child died.
I wish that I could be reimbursed
For those expensive membership dues,
And cancel my membership in this club
That no one would ever choose.

A SMILE
A smile costs nothing but creates much.
It enriches those who receive without impoverishing those who give.
It happens in a flash and the memory of it lasts forever.
None are so rich that they can get along without it,
and none are so poor, but both are richer for it’s benefits.
It creates happiness in the home,
It fosters good business
and is the countersign of friends.
It is rest to the weary, daylight to the discouraged and sunshine to the sad.
