Hi,
I have lost 4 babies to a genetic condition called Trisomy 18 or Edwards Syndrome. After Alex was diagnosed we were both tested and found out that my husband was a carrier of the condition although he is not affected by it. I was angry because we had been told after my first two miscarriages that there was nothing wrong genetically, and after my daughter Ciara was stillborn (at full term), they could find nothing wrong with her either, so we had to lose 4 babies before anyone suggested genetic testing. A simple blood test could have saved us from 10 years of heartache!

Having said that, I do not regret one minute spent with my son, but I now say to anyone having multiple "unexplained" miscarriages/stillbirths to insist on genetic testing.

There is a support group called S.O.F.T UK who support families of children with Trisomy 18(Edwards) & Trisomy 13(Patau's).
