Hi Jennie. I only found your Memorial to Stephen last night - so glad I did. I was looking for a way of paying tribute to him, to mark the 25 years since he was so tragically taken from this world, and I found the lovely place you've created here.
My name is Nadine and I knew Steve when we were both just teenage schoolkids, friends who lost touch. The last time I saw him was a brief, unexpected meeting at his Mum's house just before he was posted to Northern Ireland.
I didn't come to his funeral-I'm ashamed to say that I wasn't brave enough,nor did I feel I had the "right" to feel so sad, when you had lost so very much more. I cannot tell you how much I admire your courage and steadfastness through these 25 difficult years,raising the children he gave you on your own. I have thought about you so much today, as I have about Steve, so cruelly robbed of the life you should have had together. The very thought of life without my husband,also a Stephen,is too awful for me to contemplate and makes me ache for you even more.
Can I give you a big cyber-hug?! I'm going to light a candle for Steve now on this poignant anniversary, but I wanted to speak to you first and wish you renewed strength in living a life that should have been so very different, if not for such a senseless tragedy.
