Robert (Bobby) Palmer was my father's first cousin. Bobby's father and my Dad's father were brother, although my grandfather Palmer and his family immigrated to Canada in 1910 and so the two families lived apart. Bobby's father Bill was in Canada from 1924 - 1927 and tried to persuade his wife to come out to Canada with their three children (Bobby was the eldest). When I first travelled to Scotland in 1987, my father was adamant that I make contact with his three Palmer cousins in Dumfries - he never forgot his uncle Bill who brought a breath of family. I wrote the story of Bobby's father in my book From Soul to Soul and would be pleased to send you a copy of the chapter, if you're interested.
Bobby's daughter Maureen Clow and I are in contact and of course, that's how I knew of Bobby's death.
