December 24, 2008

A little hug from me to you,
To make you smile
when you feel blue,
To make you happy
when your sad,
To let you know
life aint so bad.
Now I've given a hug to you,
Somehow I feel much better too
Hugs are better when they're shared

So pass one on to show you care.

On 10th March 2003 my son Andrew died after being atacked by a gang of drunken
yobs in the Liverpool city centre. He was killed fot just bumping into someone
in the street. So far no one has ever been convicted.
I have set up a group with parents and families of other homicide victims.
Our aim is to try and change the laws in this country, that seem to take the
word 'justice' out of the justice system, allowing the perpetrator rights that
the real victims do not seem to have. We feel that if a person takes the life
of another human being, they should be sentenced to spend the rest of their
natural life in jail, rather than being released after a few years only to
reoffend again.
We believe the current system is not working and are therefore arguing for
change in order to make a zero tolerance sentence become a real deterrent.

In October this year we arranged a march and rally in Liverpool, and in the
short time that we had to organise it, we had a turnout of around a thousand
people, many who were unaffected members of the public who also wish to see
change.

There are so many other organisations around the country aiming for the same
thing, (guncrime, knifecrime etc.), but I feel that the only way to make a real
impact is to all come out on the same day at the same time in our respective
home towns, therefore, on 28th March 2009, I am organising another march, and
this time I am hoping that the whole country will support us by organising
protests in each town across the Nation.

We currently have the backing of the 'Liverpool Echo' and local radio station
City talk fm, with whom we have recently run a two day call in and discussion,
details can be obtained by Pete Price at pete@citytalk.fm
I would be most grateful if you would assist us in publicising this march, to
raise awareness across the country and allow the public to voice their own
opinions on this sadly, ever growing problem.

I will email you a copy of the manifesto we have drawn up if required.
