Thoughtful members Vicki and Linda organized a balloon release for our angels in the community forums. This kind and lovely gesture was completed today on chrustmas eve by myself and other GTS staff. This is a great example of how strong the GTS community is and how a little thoughtfulness can touch a lot of people. We received over 150 ribbons from Vicki, which were all tied to balloons and released into the air earlier today. I hope you all manage to enjoy what for most will be a difficult time of year. Merry christmas GTS!

Edinburgh is the confirmed region for the first gonetoosoon.org Christmas Chandle-Lit Vigil. The event will take place at Castle Street from at 6:30pm on Wednesday the 14th December. Candles will be provided and donations will be much appreciated, with proceeds going to the Cash for Kids Christmas Appeal: helping Santa get presents to children from under-priviledged backgrounds, who otherwise may not have received them. If you would like to suggest your carol-singing troupe to come and join us, or you would like to read something for your Angels, or if you have any suggestions at all, please email Paul on paul.bloomfield@gonetoosoon.org - this is your vigil for you angels, so all things will be considered.

There are now some new ones available for you based on some of your suggestions. We haven't stopped yet so dont worry if you dont see the ones you wanted straight away, hopefully when we are finished there will be something for everybody.
Have a look at some of the new ones we have here.

As we all know the 11th November is the day that we take time to remember all soldiers killed in the line of duty since WWI, This year we will be doing something different to show our support to our fallen soldiers, we will also have poppies available to anyone that would like one. Will you be observing the two minute silence at a service? Maybe you will be at home with loved ones? Why not log onto GTS and observe it with your GTS friends? Make sure you check out the site and see what we have done to honor our troops!

Gonetoosoon.org are thinking about organising some candle-lit vigils across the country, to remember those who cannot be with us during the seasonal period. The vigil will take place during the evening, where candles can be purchased with profits going to charity. We are also hoping to have some carol singers to help with the festive spirit and some readings for your loved ones who have passed. We were hoping that we could get your thoughts and ideas, to see whether this would be suitable and something you would be interested in doing. Also, we wondered whether you would have any suggetions: local choirs for the carol singing, poems and verses and anything else you can think of to make it a memorable time and a pleasant experience. Obviously we need to have responses from all of you who would like to attend, to ensure that it's a worthwhile project. Let us know not just if you would like to take part, but also if you had friends and family who would come too. Just send a quick message to Paul Bloomfield or email paul.bloomfield@gontoosoon.org Please do get back to us with your thoughts and location so that we can plan for the events, Thank you Paul Bloomfield Gone Too Soon Team paul.bloomfield@gonetoosoon.org

The festive season starts now! Halloween and Bonfire Night are like our little warm up before Christmas and the New Year. We all associate Halloween with trick or treating, children dressed in costumes, bobbing for apples and of course scary movies. You may be surprised to know the root of Halloween lies in the Roman feast of Pomona, the goddess of fruits and seeds and the Celtic festival Samhain which translates as 'summers end'. The tradition of carving pumpkins was actually an originally started with turnips as a way of remembering souls held in purgatory. This then gave way to pumpkins at the end of the 19th Century hence the familiar lanterns that we know today. Whatever you are doing this Halloween I’m sure you will have a wonderful time. Back by popular demand will be our Halloween gifts, with a bigger and better range than last year. We are adding some of your suggestions to that range so look out for them, I’m sure you will find something perfect for your angels.
