I was extremely close to my grandad,in fact he was more like my Dad,so when he passed away at the age of 91 it has absolutly devastated me,but what is annoying is people saying he had "good innings"-he did have a long life but his life was really hard and he had to experience things that should never be experienced,is there anyone who feels the same as a loss of someone you dearly love should not be about age,the pain is still as intense
RE: Losing Grandad
Hi Susan - Your Grandad sounds like a really special man, and you're exactly right, it doesn't matter how old someone is, losing them is just as painful whatever. I think sometimes people say daft things like " he had a good innings" because they think that is a comfort to you, and they don't realise it's actually quite hurtful. The memory of your Grandad will always live on with you, and he will never stop being loved, missed and remembered.
Thinking of you and wishing you peace.
Love Sue x
RE: Losing Grandad
Dear Sue
Thank you so much for your kind words, really mean a lot to me right now as it is this time I really do need support and guidance to try and come to terms with my loss
Its comforting to know that there are others outhere who experience the same pain as I do like yourself and we can support each other through these dark times of our lives, and this website has given me a place I can share my grief with others, which is lovely(if you know what I mean)
Take Care Sue and sending you a hug for your thoughts
Sue xx
